Local Flair

I’m excited to announced that I’ve won an instagram photography contest with Local Flair magazine of the Poconos. They’ve chosen the photo below to be on the cover of their August/September issue (the food issue) which is going to print today! I’m so excited and can’t wait to see it in print.

They also asked me to submit a few sentences about myself to go in the publication. I was happy to have the fire lit and here’s what I came up with, thanks to Kerilyn and Dave (for helping!):

Kyra Dosch-Klemer is a web designer and artist striving to expose the natural beauty and simplicity found in ordinary moments. I seek to illuminate the sublime elegance often concealed within the mundane in order to heighten awareness of the moment through the beautiful stillness and magic that is present in most moments. This is realized through emphasis on the natural state of things. I aim to honor the purity in my art as well as in life, whether it is in the music I listen to, the items in my home, or the food I feed my family. Purity, as a concept, permeates my life. You can view some of her design work at http://www.whykyra.com.

five senses friday

:: inspired by andrea over at hula seventy ::

lush green surrounding us, game of thrones episode one on my parents’ gigantic screen, a design that i am digging

earthy yolk of a perfectly cooked over-easy egg, sweet and fresh-from-the-garden sugar snap peas, crisp white wine

chirping baby sparrows who are nesting in the candle holder hanging nearby, distant laughter of children, Indira’s new questioning “Why”s…

fresh sweet basil, sage, and chives

cool breeze in warm sun, relaxed afternoon

I know I don’t know

:: inspired by the beautiful Susanna Conway ::

I don't know

I don’t know how to find enough patience

I don’t really know how to be present

I don’t know how to play (and enjoy it)

I don’t know how to turn my ideas into actions

I don’t know how to build my business with less chance and more deliberation involved

I don’t know how to decrease the clutter in my mind

I don’t know how to reach out

I don’t know when I’ll find the balance that I need

I don’t know if I’ll ever stop searching

I don’t know what’s holding me back from making art

I don’t know how to be a better friend

I don’t know what’s keeping me from following through

I don’t know how to get it all done

I don’t even know how to start

I don’t know how to let people in

I don’t know that I feel comfortable publishing this, but I’m inspired by this amazing piece by Andrea Scher and by Susanna.
